Wish Big Card with This and That

Finally getting the opportunity to participate in Freshly Made Sketches.  As always, another great sketch to challenge your creativity!  It definitely inspired spring for me as we patiently await the weather to warm up here!

Recently my Stampin' Up! package full of This and That product came.  I'm really not a scrapbooker even though I really love this new line!  Of course, I had to use the Designer Series Paper on this card.

I also used the Washi tape which is really fun.  The one I used has great depth to it (easier to see in person).  I didn't even notice until I unrolled it and started playing with it.  It's all very subtle but stunning!

Can you see how the numbers show through?  Such a pretty nuance to the design!

I stamped the "BIG" words from "Wish Big" in Basic Gray ink directly onto the Designer Series paper.  At first I was bummed because it didn't stamp perfectly, but when I stopped to look at it, I liked that it wasn't perfect.  I think it works well with the paper, giving it that "shabby" feel.  So I left it.

The banner image from the new photopolymer stamp set Designer Typeset is done in Pool Party ink on Whisper White card stock.  The letters are in Calypso Coral.  I cut the banner out leaving a little bit of tails on either side, added Calypso Coral Baker's Twine and Silver Mini Brads in between the banners.  To attach to the card I used Stampin' Dimensionals to give it some height off the paper and washi tape.

To shift gears just a bit, we here in Boston have experienced quite a tragedy this week.  I know quite a few people who were running in the marathon and were affected by what occurred.  My daughter and I were talking about it and we both remarked about the strength of character shown during such an awful event.  She loved that people were there helping others.  I am glad that as a 10 year old she chooses to focus on the kindness of people rather than the 1 horrific act.  Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in our community and beyond who have been affected.

Mother's Day Class for Kids

I am holding another class for the kids!  This time we'll make a special gift just for Mom!

I set up a Facebook event and printed out invitations using MDS for my daughter to hand out:

Let me know if you can join in the fun!
