Butterfly Dream

Yesterday I was going through the Control Freaks Blog Hop and came across the most gorgeous card by LeeAnn Greff.  It was simple yet had these great details that just made it pop.  I knew I wanted to recreate her design and put my own little twist on it!  Here's what I came up with:

The butterflies are punched first on Whisper White and then using the 1-1/4" circle punch punches out again.  Then they are layered on a piece of Parker's Patterns DSP punched out with the 1-3/8" circle punch.  Like LeeAnn, I used rhinestones on the bodies, but I wanted to add a bit of color so I colored them in using a Sharpie.

I used the scallops from the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to get the antennae on each butterfly.  This was one of the touches LeeAnn used to really make the card a wow!

Another way I changed it up was by embossing with the Chevron TIEF so the lines go across horizontal instead of up and down.  The folder is set up to do a quarter sheet at once but the orientation of the striping would be vertical.  In order to do it the other way I ran it through my big shot twice, lining it up the second time with what had embossed the first time.

Thanks for the inspiration LeeAnn!
