A Penguin Birthday

My good friend's daughter turned one at the end of January and she asked me to make invitations for the celebration.  She picked a penguin theme which I think is so adorable!  The party was the other day and everything turned out so cute!  Love the "Hot Cocoa Bar" that was all set up and there were lots of penguin decorations.

Here is the card that I came up with for the invites:

I used the Stampin' Up! MDS2 Digital Scrapbooking software to print out the "You're Invited" onto cardstock.  I was able to match the color of the Real Red cardstock easily through the software and size the words to fit the 1" punch.  To make the penguin I used the Owl Punch and cut off the ears.  I used the Stocking Builder punch for his little wing flaps!  And he needed a hat with a Silver Glimmer paper pom pom.

Of course, for the party, I needed to have a birthday card to give.  It had to be a penguin!  I was recently at Stampin' Up!'s leadership conference in Orlando and received a swap from someone that was a penguin card.  It was really cute, but I changed it up a little, making it into a full A2 card.

I used the Decorative Label punch and scored it at 1/2" to make his little feet.  The scallop sentiment he is holding is from the set "Sketched Birthdays" which is a set we received at Leadership.  It's not even available, so this is a sneak peek!  I wrote a sweet little note inside and donated in the birthday girl's honor to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
