Another Chalkboard Technique Card

The theme for this month's Long Distance Swappers group is Pot Luck, anything we want.  Since I am loving the latest and greatest technique "Chalkboard" effect, I thought I'd try that.  My first choice for color was going to be Pool Party, Baja Breeze and Island Indigo, which I always choose.  I decided that I needed to challenge myself and use a different color palette this time.  Yellow is almost the opposite of blue!  :)

I'm always looking for ways to make my stamping tools into multi-taskers!  If I have to find room to store something, I want it to be able to do more than 1 thing for me.  The opportunity to use the Labels Collection framelit dies in a new way presented itself nicely with the Chalkboard technique.

After embossing the Ferris Wheel image from the "Feeling Sentimental" set with Whisper White craft ink and Whisper White embossing powder on Basic Gray Cardstock, I placed my framelit die with the flat side down on the cardstock around the embossed image.  To hold it down, I used two post it notes.

Then using Stampin' Up! watercolor pencil in white, I traced around the inside of the framelit die.  You could switch the Post-It notes to the inside and trace the outside of the die as well, but the inside was the size I wanted.  I swiped the craft ink on before doing this step as I found that if I traced the outline and then swiped with the craft ink, it tended to diminish the crispness of the outline.

I matted the Basic Gray on top of a piece of Whisper White and mounted it on Summer Starfruit cardstock.  Using the Bitty Banners stamp set and framelits,  I cut a flower from the Flower Trim and pressed it into my Summer Starfruit ink pad to give the top edges color.

A really fun technique to try!
