Christmas Swap

We are still in August, I know!  But it is time to start to thinking about Christmas cards already.  I signed up for a spot in the demo swap I participate in.  I saw a really cute card by Andrea Walford on Pinterest and this is my take on it:

The sentiment is from Christmas Lodge stamp set in Baja Breeze on a Very Vanilla panel.  Since I need to make a bunch of these cards, I was trying to think of a way to mass produce the embossed snowflakes on the Baja Breeze panel.  I only want the panel partially embossed so it can be the mat for the vanilla panel.  I figured out where on the embossing folder I'd need to set my cardstock and drew a line using a Sharpie marker.  So now I just have to set my cardstock up to the line and put it through the Big Shot.  No remeasuring each time I do it.

I had to use the new Illuminate ink pad on the embossed snowflakes.  Illuminate ink is like a VersaMark ink mixed with a shimmer paint.  It works very well on dark cardstock, but gives nice subtle accent to lighter cardstock, such as the Baja Breeze.  I used a sponge dauber to apply it directly to the embossed panel.  You can a bit of a difference between the inked version on the card and the non-inked panels that are laying down at the bottom of the photo.

I mounted the Baja Breeze onto Not Quite Navy and popped it up on dimensionals to give it a little height on top of the Crumb Cake card base.
