Baby Shower Invitations

My good friends were just chosen to adopt a baby. The whole process went a lot quicker than we thought. They had recently posted their profile to the adoption website and the birth mother chose them after giving birth. It's such an exciting time for them, however, this being their first child, they do not have much gear yet! They purchased a few essentials before making the trip to pick up the baby, but not a lot. We definitely wanted to celebrate this wonderful new family who are all lucky to have one another! Planning got under way for an Adoption Shower and I offered to make 60 invitations.

For the base of the card I used Crumb Cake carstock. I cut a 5-1/2" x 11" piece and scored it at 2-1/8" on each side. Then I cut from the 2-1/8" score marks at top and bottom towards the center of the 5-1/2" edge, again each side in order to create the flaps. I then used the Perfect Polka Dot embossing folder to get the raised "bumps" on each flap. I cut out and adhered a Chocolate Chip panel to the inside of the Crumb Cake card, printed out the invitation info on Whisper White, cut and punched the bottom with the eyelet border punch and adhered it on top of the Chocolate panel.

For the Belly Band, I stamped the Rattle image from the Button Buddies set in Pretty in Pink ink. I used a 1-3/8" circle punch on one image and used the 3/4" circle punch to get just the top of the rattle. Using a Stampin' Dimensional I adhered it to the big circle, raising the top part. Added a little pearl to the rattle top and a linen thread bow to the handle (glued on with Tombow Multi). Using the scallop circle I punched out a Chocolate Chip piece to layer underneath. I cut out a strip of Pretty in Pink, wrapped it around the card and glued the finished scallop piece to it.

I am really happy with how they came out. Easy enough to make 60 cards, but not so simple that it is boring. My friend is so incredibly supportive of my card making habit, so it was my pleasure to be able to make a little contribution to the celebration. Welcome Little One!

This is a beautiful card. I has a simple elegant design with a few perfect details that accentuate the composition of the invitation..nice job!
