FMS238 Remarkable You

I've had the Remarkable You stamp set for quite a while now, but haven't made anything with it.  Calla Lilies are one of my favorite flowers, I love their simple elegance.  Wanted to challenge myself to use the set for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge.
This sketch has multiple layers of shapes.  I chose to go a little more subtle and layer my ink colors:

I embossed the Calla Lilies with white ep on the Sweet Sugarplum panel.  I watercolored the flowers using Sweet Sugarplum, a touch of Perfect Plum, Emerald Envy and Daffodil Delight.  The sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners in Basic Black ink.

Always hard to capture the sparklyness of a card, but I tried to zoom in a little bit.  I mixed in some drops of Wink of Stella to my Daffodil Delight ink.
I outlined the flowers and filled in the stamen with the sparkly ink.  Love that you can make any ink color sparkly with just a few drops of the Wink of Stella clear!

Thanks for stopping by!  Enjoy the rest of the long weekend!

FMS237 Live Laugh Love Card

After a non-self imposed hiatus, I'm back to blogging.  My old domain name expired when I thought I'd renewed it.  Tried to wait it out so I could re-buy it, but someone else snapped it up at auction.  Oh well!  Time to get a new domain name so and She Stamps was born!

To get back into the groove, I checked out Freshly Made Sketches, always a great place for inspiration with such talented artists!  Here's this week's challenge:
And here's what I came up with:

First step was to stamp the balloon images on the Whisper White panel.  I also stamped 3 times onto scrap paper and cut out to  make masks.  Added 2 way glue and once dry placed them on top of the balloons.

I made a paper mask using the negative die cut of the Sunburst Thinlit.  Added some 2 way glue to the back of the mask and let it dry.  Sponged Daffodil Delight ink onto Whisper White panel, going a little darker at the edges.

Finally stamped the sentiment in black on top of the sunburst.  The right side band is the Pop of Pink DSP and the left it a strip of Melon Mambo cardstock.

Stamp Sets:  Stampin' Up! - Layering Love, Celebrate Today
Colors:  Melon Mambo, Rose Red, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay
Paper:  Pop of Pink Specialty DSP, Whisper White CS, Whisper White Thick CS
Accessories:  Sunburst Thinlit
Technique:  Masking

Thanks for stopping by!

You Brighten My Day card

It's Sale-A-Bration time again.  One of the sets you can get for free is "You Brighten My Day."  This is a set that perhaps I might not be interested in purchasing, but because I was able to get it for free I ended up with it.  My friend challenged me to make a sample for her with this set.  Otherwise it might sit on the shelf collecting dust.

The light bulb image was really cute, so I went about designing a card using it.

I stamped the image three times, staggering it to make different lengths.  The cords were drawn using a ruler and the Stampin' Write journal pen.  Card base is Blackberry Bliss with the DSP panel from the Moonlight Series Stack.  Daffodil Delight ribbon to transition from the DSP to the white panel.  The way the light bulbs are stamped, the sentiment that came with the set didn't make sense the way it curves.  I used "you light up my life" from the "One Tag Fits All" inking just the words with the Blackberry Bliss marker.

The light bulbs were stamped using Memento Black Ink and then colored in using the Blendabilities markers.  I outlined each image in the lightest Soft Sky and used the Light and Medium Daffodil Delight markers for the inside and the light rays.  For the base of the bulb, I colored using the Silver Dazzle Marker.

I really like how this turned out and hope my friend likes it!

Birthday Balloons Card

The new Occasions catalog is out and as always, there are lots of cute stamp sets.  One of the sets that immediately caught my eye was "Celebrate Today" which is very versatile for all kinds of occasions beyond birthday.  It contains sentiments for graduation, wedding, baby and general celebrations.  And there are coordinating framelits so you don't have to cut freehand.

This card is a fun Happy Birthday card with bright colors.  I used Strawberry Slush, Tangelo Twist, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi and Tempting Turquoise inks to stamp the balloon image.

The birthday sentiment is from the My Paper Pumpkin kit for January.  Using a Basic Black Stampin' Write marker allowed me to just color in the "birthday" part of the stamp.

After stamping all the balloons and die cutting them using the Balloon Framelits die, I used the Little Letters Thinlits dies to cut the letters out of each one.  The balloons are then attached to the card which is 4"x 9" with dimensionals.

And finally, tied a bit of White Baker's Twine to the end of each balloon.  It was fun to use a card size that is outside what I typical do.

Confetti Stars Punch Thank You

Now that Christmas is over, it's time to think Thank You notes for all the gifts received.  After all the Christmas specific designs, I'm now ready for something less holiday themed but still appropriate for winter.

Love the Confetti Stars punch in the 2014 Holiday Catalog and since it may not be carrying over, I wanted to play with it one last time before storing it away. Using notecard size (3-1/2" x 5") with a 3-1/4" x 4-3/4" Whisper White panel, I punched the long side.  I center the panel in the punch so that I have to punch two more times, once on each end.  It works out visually so it doesn't look like you started at a particular side.

Using the photopolymer set Another Thank You, the sentiment is inked in Soft Sky.  I cut a cardstock panel 1" x 4-3/4" and spritzed with Smooch Spray to give it some starry shimmer, then mounted it behind the punched stars:

It's a very subtle look and that's what I like about it.  It's not overly glittery, just a touch.  These are ready for the mail!

Lotus Blossom Sale-A-Bration

I saw them demonstrate the Lotus Blossom stamp set at the December Catty Kick-off and just loved the 3 step look.  The lotus flower comes as 3 separate images in photopolymer making it really easy to layer on top of one another.  And the set is free with purchase during Sale-A-Bration.

I wanted a really easy card that I could finish quickly.  I could always step it up a bit by adding some baker's twine or more layers to the card base, but I like the simplicity of this:

The card base is Calypso Coral.  The darkest image is stamped first using Tangerine Tango, then Calypso Coral for the second image and Crisp Cantaloupe which I stamped off once after inking for the solid image.  The sentiment is also Calypso Coral.  Stems were inked with Wild Wasabi for the textured branch image and stamped off once for the solid stem image.

Flower Patch Birthday

Saw an adorable little card on Pinterest and it looked so quick and cute.  Using the photopolymer Flower Patch set and the coordinating Flower Flair Framelits, it was easy to get this card together.  I changed the colors a bit from the card I saw and rotated my card base to landscape to get more of the smaller flowers.

The colors are Tangelo Twist, Wild Wasabi and Daffodil Delight.  A touch of Crushed Curry to the center of the die cut flower to give it some depth.  Quick and cute, my favorite!
